Job Description We are looking for a Research Director and to join our Latin America Upstream Research team in Mexico City or Rio de Janeiro. Our dedicated oil and gas sector teams are located around the world, and deliver research and consulting projects based on our assessment and valuation of thousands of individual assets. Together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors. About you and how you can excel in this role You are passionate about the Latin America upstream oil and gas sector and the role it plays in the global energy sector. You have an analytical, commercial mindset and an eye for detail. You also understand the big picture, which enables you to analyse and form clear, coherent conclusions from a variety of data and information. You are fluent in Spanish or Portuguese and find it easy communicating complex or technical information and delivering messages that are easily understood. You thrive in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships including coaching, influencing and developing others around you. You possess the following core competencies: Prior relevant work experience in the Latin America upstream sector: at least 6-8 years at an oil and gas company, upstream service company and energy finance Prior experience with petroleum economics, financial valuation and commercial modelling Exceptional English Portuguese and/or Spanish (written and spoken – both languages will be a plus) Structured thinking, problem solving and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and develop relationships with people at all levels in an organization If you are looking for a role where you can make positive impact on business results, your own team and those around you, apply now. About the role You will join a team of analysts and subject matter experts that provide comprehensive and thought-provoking research on the Latin America upstream industry. You will be adept at valuing oil and gas assets and understand the key issues that inform that valuation. You will also form opinions on corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, M&A deals, petroleum economics, and government energy policy. A key part of your role is to develop relationships with the oil and gas community. These strong relationships will enable you to gather intelligence that will enrich the quality and timeliness of our research solutions. You will also become a go-to-expert for clients and media. You will work closely with our sales and consulting colleagues in supporting clients. This will involve regularly travel into the region to share and present data and inform views on the Latin America upstream sector and demonstrating how our insight and solutions help clients make better decisions. You will be able to prioritise what matters to clients and the team, having regular interaction with senior business stakeholders. Your focus will be to champion change, fostering an open, innovative and dynamic team environment. You will ensure that we embrace new technologies and techniques to improve data processes and workflow. You will also work with client management and consulting to generate new research, sales and consulting opportunities.
