OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE : The Technical Lead is responsible for the management and successful completion of all the activities related to a Work Package either at the System level or at the Subsystem level What are the responsibilities? Independently applies extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist to meet company standards and customer requirements including the design of complex new / modified products/ systems. Defines specifications for new or modified products/systems in areas of specialization to meet contract requirements. Performs responsibilities with limited direction from the manager. Develops solutions to complex problems requiring innovation and creativity. Provides technical leadership to individuals or teams in resolving problems as defined above. Advises and provides technical direction on assigned project(s) to other technical staff reporting within the same project(s). Leads or participate in technical discussions directly with the customer and represents/protects the company’s interest. Works with Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) involving potential modifications to the company’s specifications delivered so far. Support the PrEM in the Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation, including equipment codification requests (CLAMP/PLM) and quantities. Leads and provides input for cross-functional teams at project schedules. Reviews specification documents and manages input to technical proposal and cost estimates as requested. Provides technical input to or provides required documentation as needed per assigned procedure, process, and activity being performed including partnering with technical writing/training staff. Mentors those less experienced in the department. Keeps abreast of technologies used by the company, industries to remain current, and prepared for technology changes within the work environment. May suggest to Project Engineering Manager / Department Head about improvements in the process by applying new techniques Performs other related activities as requested. What do I need to qulify for this job? EDUCATION Bachelors in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation) BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: High on Interpersonal skills Consultative in nature Personable and approachable High Execution skills Speed Rigor and Discipline TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE 10 years of experience in signaling is highly desirable, alternatively similar industry experience can also be considered. Able to demonstrate the ability to use this technical knowledge in collaboration with other departments (engineering, procurement, projects). Significant experience in the delivery of design, analysis, development, testing, and delivery. Has good awareness of industry norms and standards EN51028, 50129, 50126, etc. Systems thinking – 3 views system engineering (functional, architectural and operational) Awareness of processes in safety-critical industry – Requirement management, configuration, and change management Analysis / debugging / troubleshooting acumen. Preferred Qualification: Circuit design experience. Knowledge of signaling equipment, operational analysis, transportation, and operating procedures.
