To support our rapid growth, we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend systems. This role will be a key contributor to the development of our financial services infrastructure, working within Lama’s advanced tech stack, including Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, and Redis. You will be responsible for building and optimizing secure, scalable, and compliant backend APIs and services for fiat payments, card processing, and crypto wallets.
Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Developer , you will work on the core financial services architecture that powers our platform. This includes:
- Fiat Banking APIs – Integrations with EMIs, banks, and payment processors for SEPA, SWIFT, VIBANs .
- Card Processing Systems – Managing transaction flows, authorizations, settlements, and BIN sponsorship integrations .
- Crypto & Wallet Services – Secure APIs for deposits, withdrawals, staking, and blockchain interactions (optional but a plus).
- Security & Compliance – Implementing AML/KYC, fraud detection, and PCI-DSS security best practices.
This role requires deep expertise in backend engineering, API development, and scalable system design in a fintech or financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance APIs for fiat banking, card payments, and crypto transactions.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data encryption protocols to protect user funds and sensitive information.
- Develop transaction processing logic for fiat transfers, card payments, and crypto transactions .
- Optimize database queries, caching strategies, and microservices performance to handle high transaction volumes.
- Ensure seamless integrations with banks, EMIs, and blockchain networks (this one is nice to have).
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of backend development experience in fintech, payments, or high-transaction systems.
- Strong expertise in building scalable, secure, and efficient APIs for financial transactions.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and cloud-based backend systems .
- Strong knowledge of payment gateways, IBAN/VIBAN handling, and card processing flows.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other relational and NoSQL databases.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices (PCI-DSS, OAuth2, JWT, encryption methods).
- Experience with real-time processing architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS EventBridge).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes-based deployments).
- Analytical mindset, able to solve complex financial transaction challenges.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of backend systems.
- Strong collaboration skills , working effectively with frontend, DevOps, security, and product teams.
